Get Started

From NaruSaku Wiki

Welcome again to the NaruSaku Wiki! Thank you for showing interest in helping build the NaruSaku Wiki! This page will act as a short guide to getting started on gaining a new account and editing the wiki. Normally, wikis are open for anyone to edit, but as a preventative measure against spam and malicious edits, all new editors must be approved.

Code of Conduct

  1. This is a NaruSaku Wiki first. Although other ships are allowed to post content to the NaruSaku Wiki, our goal here is to document NaruSaku content. NaruSaku pages and media will always take priority over other ships and content posted to the wiki.
  2. Be kind. Fandom is meant for people to come together and have fun, not to fight or enact revenge. This wiki is meant to express love for NaruSaku and the fans who celebrate it, not as a source of conflict.
  3. Follow the guidelines. Below will be basic guidelines necessary to keep the wiki organized and readable. Malicious editing with the intention of deleting content, posting purposely incorrect information, or pasting in copyrighted material may result in a suspension or permanent ban.
  4. No plagiarized content. As stated above, copying and pasting information from the Narutopedia wiki is not permissible and will be deleted. Pasting in content directly from another source without permission will also result in content deletion.
  5. No direct NSFW content. Although we will allow the inclusion of Universes or metas that reference NSFW material, images or direct text from NSFW material is not permissible and will be removed.

Article Writing

Starting a page is easy! This section will explain how each section on a wiki page should be written and edited. If you need more assistance, please contact an official NaruSaku Wiki account. Links can be found on the sidebar.

Firstly, when creating a new page, make sure to start with the proper boilerplate above the editor window. From the dropdown, you will find a variety of different templates to start with.

Images

  • If possible, all images should be uploaded as PNG images. This is to prevent images becoming blurry and pixelated overtime.
  • File names should begin with the name of the subject. For example "Road to Ninja" or "Naruto Uzumaki" followed by the rules written below.
  • If an image is meant to be used as a profile image, then the name of the file should be written as "Name of Subject Profile.png"
  • If the profile is for a canon character and will likely have a fanon counterpart, it should be written as "(Name) Canon Profile.png". Their fanon profile should be written as "(Name) Fanon Profile.png"
  • Other file name rules:
    • Poster: Movie posters or just a poster images should written as "(Subject) (Name) Poster.png".
    • Cover: Book covers, manga covers or any covers in general should written as "(Subject) (Name) Cover.png".
    • Screenshot: Screenshots of the anime, movies or video games should written as "(Subject) (Name) Screenshot.png".
    • Panel: If the image is a cut out of a manga page, it should be written as "Naruto Chapter (XX) Page (XX) Panel.png". Please do not upload full manga pages.
    • Merchandise: For physical items and merchandise, it should end with "Merchandise".
    • Artwork: For images that are not profiles, posters, covers, or anything else, it should end with "Artwork".

Things to Keep in Mind

  • This wiki is equipped with a WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get). If you need more assistance with formatting, check out the Official Documentation
  • If a page doesn't have a lot of text, then adding a lot of images outside the gallery is not good formatting practice.
  • If a character is in an alternate universe, then the proper place to describe their role in the AU is on the character's fanon page under "Universes". (Example).
  • A red link means a page has not yet been created. Feel free to do so!

Canon vs Fanon

While exploring the wiki, you will notice most pages are divided between canon and fanon. In previous iterations of the wiki, keeping canon content and fanon content separated but on the same page was a stressful exercise. In order to reduce confusion, canon has been completely separated from fanon. This applies to characters and groups.

For example: The base Naruto Uzumaki page will display links that can take you to either his canon page (Naruto Uzumaki (Canon)) or his fanon page (Naruto Uzumaki (Fanon)).

By default, most pages will only have a canon page with no '(Canon)' indicator. But, should the need arise to create a fanon version of the page, then the canon page will be moved to '(Canon)' and a disambiguation page will be created that will link to both the canon and fanon verions.

Canon

Canon pages should only reference officially released content and information. Manga content takes priority over all other content including the anime, movies, audio dramas, stage plays, and games. Content from the recent spin offs and continuation is discouraged. If you would like clarification, please contact staff.

Fanon

Fanon pages can reference canon and fanon events. If there is information or lore specific to a certain universe among the NaruSaku fandom, it should be written under the "Universe" header. Otherwise, any other shared information across the NaruSaku universe can be written under "Profile". Save for a few exceptions, content from the recent spin offs and continuation is discouraged. If you would like clarification, please contact staff.

Sections

Below are sections and descriptions to be used on each page. This order should be strictly followed. Some pages will not need all sections. If you are unsure what sections to use, please use the Boilerplate templates available to you when creating a new page.

Profile

The Profile section should include and overview of their "Personality", "Appearance" and "Background".

Personality

Personality should cover any character quirks or outstanding behavior from this character. It should also include personality shifts of growth. This section should not require any images.

Appearance

Appearance should cover what they generally look like from their hair and eye color to their skin. It should also detail any outfits typically worn by this character. This section can and should include images justified to the right or left.

Background

Background should cover this character's life before the story begins or before they appear in the story. This section should include no more than one or two images justified to the right or left. It will also cover all the events of the story this character experiences or witnesses. This section should include no more than four or five images justified to the right or left.

Characters

This section should only be used on Universe, Group, Clan, or Team pages. It is a gallery that lists all characters associated with the page subject. Each image and caption should link to the character.

Original Characters

On fanon versions of existing canon pages, a new section named "Original Characters" should be placed above "Characters". The "Original Characters" section should contain only fanon characters while the "Characters" section should contain existing canon characters. If the page subject is fanon only, then this section is not required. (Example)

Universes

The Universe section should be a series of subheaders each linking to a universe the character is a part of. Under each header, a description of their role should be noted. (Example)

Media Appearances

Media Appearances should be a neatly organized list and brief description of every media the (canon) subject has appeared in. This includes manga, anime, books, games, audio dramas, plays, and other media. Example formatting:

Relationships

The Relationships section should be a series of subheaders each linking other characters the subject is deeply connected to. Under each header, a description of their relationship should be noted. (Example)

Skills

The Skills section should be accurate and detailed descriptions of the character's skills, traits, tool proficiency and abilities. Pictures of general skills such as "good chakra control" or "especially fast" may not need an image. Kekkei Genkai or special jutsu may use no more than one image. All skills should be linked.

Trivia

Trivia should be a neatly organized list of uncommon facts and information.

Nomenclature

Nomenclature should have a brief description of the meaning of the page subject's name. Beneath that should be the nomenclature table with space to place the name written in different languages.

Gallery

The Gallery section should contact properly sourced images of the page subject.

References

The References section is an auto generated section that will gather citations used on the page above.

Media Abbreviations

The table below is a list of media abbreviations to make referencing certain content easier. Using the abbreviation with a link like, [[RTN]], will redirect to the proper page.
