Naruto was once a boy she found annoying when they attended academy together. Through unfortunate or fortunate circumstances, she was paired with Naruto and Sasuke as Team 7 under Kakashi. While their relationship started off shaky, she grew to respect and care for Naruto almost more than anyone else. On many occasions, she made efforts to protect his dream to become Hokage and to protect his relationship with Sasuke.

Much like the rest of the village girls, she was one of Sasuke’s fangirls in her youth. Despite his turning her down and ignoring her most of the time, she could not let go of her feelings for Sasuke through much of the manga. The manga later suggests that her feelings for Sasuke have faded or that her uncertain feelings for Naruto has become more important in her heart.

Little is known about Sakura’s relationship with her mother, but from the little information given, she does not seem to get along with her. In the movie Road to Ninja, Mebuki purposely embarrassed Sakura about her cleanliness habits, evoking them into a public argument. When Naruto attempted to quell the fight, both women turned on him in annoyance. It is speculated that Sakura’s temper originates from Mebuki.

In Road to Ninja, her parents died as heroes in the alternate reality. At first, she seemed particularly pleased to be alone and appreciated that her parents were heroes instead of a goofy married couple. Her attitude changed very quickly and when she returned to the real world, she immediately hugged her parents in relief.

Not very much is known about her relationship with her father Kizashi. From what little is known, she does not appreciate her father’s goofy ‘dad’ jokes and his lack of seriousness. It’s speculated that this contributed to her outward disdain for Naruto’s pranks, but subconsciously cheering him on and supporting him in her mind.

Ino is considered Sakura’s very first friend in school. She was bullied for her large forehead which she hid behind her bangs. Ino confronted her bullies and defended her, but also berated her for hiding her forehead. Ino gave Sakura her signature hairstyle with her bangs parted, showing her forehead for all to see. She also gave Sakura a red ribbon to wear on her head. She returned the ribbon years later for multiple reasons, including not wanting to be under Ino’s shadow.

As they grew older, they both became infatuated with Sasuke, not unlike nearly all the girls in their class. They competed for his affections which usually resulted in arguments between them. As they grew older, their competition for Sasuke grew stale.

Tsunade took in Sakura as her student when Sakura was 13 years old. The manga does not delve deeply into the relationship she has with her mentor, but later in the manga Tsunade seems proud of Sakura’s growth.
